On October 11, 2024, Philia Mission Kenya, in partnership with Elimu Yetu Coalition and other organizations, celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child at Gatondo Girls Secondary School in Nyeri County. The theme, “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” emphasized empowerment and support among over 900 girls from Gatondo and Itundo Girls Secondary Schools. The event featured activities focused on education, health, and environmental sustainability, attended by 100 stakeholders from local and national government.
A key highlight was a tree-planting initiative, where 300 trees were planted, symbolizing a commitment to environmental conservation and encouraging girls to take leadership in climate action. Additionally, health services were provided to 400 girls, emphasizing the importance of health education in empowering young women to make informed decisions about their futures.
